Welcome to Big Stone County Elections. Our office administers federal, state and county elections for all jurisdictions in the county and offers assistance and support for cities, townships and school districts in conducting elections.

Upcoming elections for 2024 include:

• The State Primary election is on August 13, 2024 and is a partisan election that allows voters to vote for candidates of one political party to select candidates to move forward to the November general election ballot.
• In Person Absentee Voting Starts June 28, 2024

All Big Stone County voters may vote early by absentee voting at the Big Stone County Auditor-Treasurer Office, 20 2nd Street SE, Ortonville, MN.

In person absentee voting hours are:
During normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) Monday through Friday, except legal holidays, beginning 46 days before the election.

Additional Absentee Voting Days

• Saturday, October 26,2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Monday, November 4, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
