Prescription Take Back Box

Big Stone County Sheriff’s Office participates in the prescription take back program. This program is designed to safely dispose of household pharmaceuticals. The sheriff’s office maintains a drop-box for expired, unused or unwanted pharmaceuticals to be safely dispose of. This is a free service that is offered to the residence and the collected waste will be taken annually to an incinerator to be disposed of.

  • The drop box is located on the main floor of the Big Stone County Courthouse at 20 SE 2nd Street, Ortonville, MN.
  • This box is not monitored however is under surveillance cameras. These cameras well be recorded but not actively monitored.
  • The unused/un-wanted pharmaceuticals should remain in their original containers and the names and labels can be left on or taken off.
  • DO NOT place needles or sharps in this bin.
